Afri-Coast was appointed to carry out the diagnostic investigation assessment, remedial design and rehabilitation works to rehabilitate the condition of 23 Reservoir structures, water treatment works and water tower in the Mossel Bay region.
The project involved structural analysis and evaluation of structures in an advance state of deterioration due to chloride induced corrosion to the structures constructed as early as 1911. A 7-year maintenance programme was compiled and accepted by the Client for implementation.
Remedial design on the first two structures (2001) involved the reconstruction of severely deteriorated structural elements and concrete rehabilitation works to the remaining structural elements.
