Afri-Coast carried out an extensive asset management, diagnostic and corrosion investigation and concrete rehabilitation to the Port Elizabeth Cement factory. The investigation confirmed carbonation and chloride induced corrosion to the 35 year old structures. The corrosion was accelerated by high temperatures situated in close proximity to the coast. Structural analysis and structural strengthening was required to maintain structural integrity.
A turnkey design and build solution was offered for the structural strengthening and concrete rehabilitation of the electrostatic precipitators, smoke stack and kiln line structures.
